Retoxed, who is someone I have been corresponding with on a Jesus and Mary Chain forum, e-mailed me recently about a site he is setting up called Lost Music. As the site explains it's purpose is:
We are here to find lost music that has been made or is waiting to be made. We want to find great new music. We want to rediscover music that, for whatever reason, has slipped off the radar. We also want to build a thriving community of like minded souls who can share their passion for music in an open and friendly environment.
It was on his site where I found a link to an excellent EP by a Swedish band called The Crack Babies. If you like the Mary Chain's Psychocandy you will love this.

Download the whole EP plus two earlier tracks.
I liked the Cranes depite the gothic element. I have not heard any of their later stuff so was pleased to find some on the Cranes Fan Forum, an excellent fansite dedicated to the band.
One track stood out for me which is the remix of "Driving In The Site". A truly beautiful track.
The Cranes - Driving In The Sun (Dimitri Tikovi Remix).
More downloads can be found at the site's audio page.
The Frenchmen, who released the excellent "We Are Sorry We Spoilt Your Party" LP earlier this year, have a Talulah Gosh cover available on their site. Direct download below or head to lovethefrenchmen to download it and a couple of others. Top stuff!

This is a link to a whole Ride Concert from 1992 to download. The concert recorded in Milan is of a high quality but it's a shame they were not ripped at a higher bitrate. Shouldn't complain really!
An article in todays Observer on the worse cover versions ever got me thinking about compiling my own tracks that are the absolute pants. I will add more as I find them. As for the Soup Dragons hang your heads in shame. I hope the quick £1.49 you made was worth it.........
The Soup Dragons - I'm Free
Candyflip - Strawberry Fields Forever (add the extension mp3 to the save as dialog)
Transvision Vamp - Tell That Girl To Shut Up

Following on from the Rough Trade indiepop release one of the UK national broadsheets, The Guardian, has written a piece about the indiepop revival. The aricle writer has also listed his top ten indiepop records as well. Anyone want to list their top ten? Do so under the comments to this post. I will post mine later!
Nice to see the excellent How Does It Feel To Be Loved getting a mention. If you are in London and the night is on then go. Highly recommended.
Another track by The Wonderful Gay Dogs (see below).
They are playing Bristol soon (lucky Bristol) and there's also a gig planned in Kilburn nearer the end of the month, and one in Manchester possibly in November/December.

Bugeye are an East London (hurrah!) female fronted four piece outfit who play some pop rock. I first came across them whilst delving through Open Source Audio. The sound is not as "indie" as I would normally listen too but these tracks are enjoyable none the less.
It seems that the gals (and one boy, a drummer, hmmm The Breeders?) have set up their own label to put their singles out on and kudos to them for that.
Bugeye - Away
Bugeye - Blood On My hands
Bugeye - Lose Control
V/Vm Test Records take the piss. Big style. Nowt seems to miss their radar and does it show. Take their cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" recorded outside the very studio where Ian Curtis and the boys recorded the original 21 years earlier. John Peel said that it was the "sound of aural sickness". What else is there. The release repeating the Spiller v Posh Spice chart rivalry which got under the nose of Dane Bowers? Or the wicked piss take of Aphex Twin?
These would be funny if they didn't sound so bad. Check them out:

Loads more here - just click on a catalogue number to get to the mp3's. Try not to laugh to much.
Not much chance to post the past couple of days. Instead head over to Think Small, a Dutch fanzine, downnload page. There are some top tunes being linked too! There is a smaller English version for those who want a read on the site.
There has been some discussion about Bristol's Gay Dogs on the Indie Mp3 Yahoo group recently. I nipped over to their website to see what the fuss is about and was well impressed with the two demos on offer! I can see what their record label means when they say Gay Dogs are a cross between the White Stripes and Shampoo!

Interpol, the eighties revivalists, who do it so much better than the vastly over-rated Franz Ferdinand, released their second album "Antics" in the UK this week. On first listens I found it as enjoyable as the debut "Turn On The Bright Lights". I am looking forward to seeing the band on their forthcoming tour as I missed them when they played London last week.
A review of the album can be found at SoundsXP
