Poppy and the Jezebels - UFO

Poppy and the Jezebels are a four piece girl group from Birmingham, and were formed in 2005 when the members were just 14. They have previously released a single and mini-album, and the new single called UFO is released on their own Gumball Machine label.

They take their lead from girl fronted artists of the punk and post punk era, like X-Ray Spex and The Slits, as well as pop bands from all along music’s time line.

The resulting song is quite reminiscent of several of the catchier moments of 80s synth pop, especially in the chorus. I think the best thing about the song must be the nice jaunty feel to the arrangement in the verse though, it's similar in style to Lonely Days by Future Bible Heroes, which always brings a smile to my face!
