Buttonhead - Weetabix Gigabyte

Buttonhead are not a folk band. Any suggestion they are seems to upset them. So I thought I'd get that out of the way first. But if they're not folk - what are they? Simply put Buttonhead are a bunch of contradictions. Cute, noisy, abrasive and tuneful all at once. In some senses this is a long way from indiepop. But at other times it just works. I guess a constantly changing aural scenery is the best way to sum up Buttonhead.
There are pounding guitars a plenty on their free download EP - 'Weetabix Gigabyte' - but it also punctuated by jerky arrangements and sometimes histrionic vocals. This is all slightly left field and experimental but just as you think you have the band all worked out - they cross over and come over accessible and tuneful - which is not an easy path to tread - it sure makes for an interesting listen and I think I like it.
The band have a My Space where you can stream lots of songs. You can also download the free EP here. The band were due to release their début single this past April - but I can't see any links to buy it from their My Space page. I guess it's been delayed.
