I've been listening to The Understudies songs via their My Space for a few months now. So I was absolutely chuffed when the band agreed to come and play the next Lostmusic night on 30th May (at The Enterprise in Camden). They're kicking the night off before we get to Plans & Apologies and Slow Down Tallahassee. If you're coming along - be sure to get there in time to see The Understudies as they make some of the best indiepop I've heard in a while.The band have four songs for streaming on their My Space page (3 of which are downloadable - which is becoming something of the exception, not the rule, these days). If you have ever fallen for bands like The Magnetic Fields, Camera Obscura and Butcher Boy - you'll be right at home with The Understudies and their beautifully presented indiepop. 'Flickknives' is one of those pop songs that manages to drill itself into your brain - making itself comfortable and refusing to leave - it's fabulous little song and one I can't stop listening to. They're a cracking little band and I can't wait to see them this coming Friday.
