Attic Lights - Bring You Down

I have noticed that the Attic Lights have been gaining a few plaudits in the music press recently although they had yet to be heard by my ears! The Glasgow outfit are managed/produced by ex Teenage Fanclub drummer Francis MacDonald and also featured on the BMX Bandits album My Chain. And if that wasn't enough they also endured the wrath of the Free Church Of Scotland after the promotion of their last single God.

Unsurprisingly they do sound a bit like Teenage Fanclub on Bring You Down which is no bad thing in my book. However also throw in the baroque pop of The Beach Boys and the jangle pop of the The Byrds and we get a decent pop single far removed from the boring Libertines clones that seem to clog up my e-mail and post boxes. However whether they are this consistent throughout is hard to say as there were no other tracks on the promo single provided but based on this they are well worth the risk in checking out.

Bring You Down is released on Universal Island Records on 30th June 2008.
