The Younger Crowd by The Candy Twins will be their new download only single released on 17/03/2008. It's taken from a physical release called the Dance Me To Heaven EP.The track reminds me of early Wedding Present singles with it's gliding jangle pop hooks courtesy of the guitars and violin, catchy clever lyrics and the infectious "Younger Crowd" chants. In fact it has that whole 1980's indie feel about it similar to This Poison! and the Edsel Auctioneer in addition to the Weddoes and is similar to what Decoration have been doing of late. It has that football terrace anthem feel to it which makes me want to jump up and down whilst it plays. My poor laminate flooring!
I downloaded a three track version of the EP from e-music which includes Pieces of Paper which emphasised what I have been saying and Teeniekram which is a German version of A Younger Crowd which just proves that a classy song can sound good in any language!
Next week the band have a small Dutch & German tour and will be back in London playing on 25/04/2008 at the Hope and Anchor.
