Bottle Rocket

I picked up three copies of the Bottle Rocket fanzine this past week.

It's an American fanzine which covers indie pop. The latest issue (no 6) has interviews with Cloudberry Records and Unpopular Records whilst number 5 had interviews with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and California Snow Story.

If I have one gripe about the fanzine is that it shares what I consider to be the wrong interpretation in that C86 and indie pop is/was all fluffy and twee. It wasn't (and isn't) but the fanzine is still is a good read if you ignore this grumpy old man!

Issues are $2 each in the States although you will have to contact the site to find what the shipping rates to Europe are.

Hey, Katy from Bottle Rocket here, thanks for the post and everything. I do have to say that I don't really think that, just a lot of what i like kind of is, so I end up writing about what I like and there you go.

I will let you off then! :o)

I am still recovering from one forum post where an obviously one young know it all states that C86 is a sub genre of twee. I still haven't stopped laughing.

    Well, that's good!

Yeah, I generally try to write about what I like rather than trying to educate people on entire genres being as I'm pretty young and don't know that much (and would probably make myself look like an idiot like that)

Yeah, Ms. Katy is only a young teenager! Girl, you get mad props from me for taking on DIY principles and enthusiastically showing what you love at such a young age AND in deepest, darkest southern America. ;-) Keep it up!
