YellowFever are an indie pop trio who hail from Austin, Texas. They were originally formed by Jennifer Moore (Voxtrot and The Carrots) and Isabel Martin (Dizzy Spells Martian, Teenage Dog, Dark Hollers, Robots Please) in 2004 under the name Fart Face! They soon broke up when Martin moved to New York. However two years later they reformed adding Adam Jones and Cole Huddleston in the process. They toured with Voxtrot which saw Moore singing with both bands.
The band have two releases out so far. One is titled Cats & Rats whilst the other is a 7" single on the Hugpatch label called Culver City. Hugpatch apparently released the former but there is no trace of it on their site.
I have just found an e-mail in my inbox containing mp3's of the Culver City release dated towards the end of October 2007 - sorry Hugpatch - and have been giving both sides a play. I have to say I have missed out here as this is an excellent single which reminds me of bands such as The Mo-dettes and Dolly Mixture. Better late than never I suppose!
Moore's vocals on Culver City are simply stunning whilst Martin takes over on vocals on Joe Brown and does a great job herself. The band's music has been previously described as "earnest minimal pop" and I have to concur with that assessment but add that the drumming/percussion also makes their songs sound distinctive. It looks like I now have some catching to do!
There are not any tracks to download so you will have to head to their My Space page and stream some fine quality music and purchase their music.
EDIT: I have found some posts with tracks at some other blogs:
