Glasgow based Wake The President are fronted by anglo-Swedish twins Erik and Björn Sandberg. They have been making an impression on the gig circuit these past few months throughout the UK following their now infamous appearance at indie tracks.The twins look like they should have been part of the Postcard Records era. Whilst Björn's guitar playing hints at James Kirk's style the band sound nothing like Orange Juice. Instead there is more than a nod towards The Smiths with their music. Not in such a full on manner, as say Cats On Fire, but via a more subtle approach especially with the clever lyrical writing.
Remember Fun is the bands second single and is their best moment to date. Whilst Erik sings his voice hangs on, as if riding on the crest of a wave, to the swinging Marr like guitar provided by his brother. The single and it's flip side, the semi-acoustic I'm Sorry, cover the usual suspects of sex, beer and low self esteem. It isn't the classic killer song that Wake The President have been threatening to make but it's oh so close.
