Tim Ten Yen is the sensational singing salaryman. This immaculately dressed young Londoner writes some darn catchy tunes, and appears on stage armed only with a keyboard, a smoke machine and a cat. Churing out his tunes on a keyboard after two songs he usually leaves it on autopilot and dances wildly about while singing, much to the astonishment of the crowd which soon joins in.I'm not sure where to place Tim. His act he describes as a kind of karaoke where the audience can relax 'cause he does all the singing, and indeed musicians can relax too because he writes the songs. Drum machine and hand claps, keyboards, loads and loads of hooks, lyrics about bears and foxes and sea anemonies. All in all finely crafted, catchy and toe-tapping popsongs.
So far Tim has released a single on Fleet Street Records, which is next to unavailable as it is, and a split single with Shimura Curves on Brainlove Records. He is currently busy recording a full-length album which should be ready in February.
While we wait for the album you can warm yourselves on the following MP3 samples. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post full songs as it is, so these fade out about 2/3 into the song:
Tim Ten Yen - Move With The Wildpalms
Tim Ten Yen - The Bear And The Fox
Tim will be playing the following shows soon in the London area, or at least I'm guessing that Telford is somewhere around there.
January 24th: Kebabalon @ Tommy Flynns, 55 Camden High Street
February 14th: BISH BASH BOSH*!!! @ Midnight's, Market Street, Telford
March 30th: Rock ānā Roll Cabaret! @ Dublin Castle, 94 Parkway, Camden

And a video for the song "Your Love". Note the text, I laughed myself silly watching this. In case you have trouble viewing this, it's also here.
