Noisy rock a la Jesus and Mary Chain seems to having a field day now, a lot of great bands are popping up such as The Manhattan Love Suicides, Ceremony, A Place To Bury Strangers and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and I have a feeling that now is the right time to step on those pedals and blow people away with feedback and distortion. One such band hails from Iceland and is called Singapore Sling. They've been around since 2000 when the band was formed by Henrik and Einar, Henrik being formerly a founding member of Bang Gang. Einar happens to be store manager at the famous little record shop 12 Tónar in Reykjavik, while the drummer Björn used to play bass with PPPönk, and bassist Ester was formerly in Bellatrix.
The band released their debut album in 2002 and has released two more since then, and the fourth is currently in the making. They've toured extensively, most notably supporting The Brian Jonestown Massacre on a North American tour.
I found a few mp3's to share with you, the best of which I consider to be "Guiding Light". Turn up the volume and absorb the feedback:
Singapore Sling - Guiding Light
Singapore Sling - Overdriver
Singapore Sling - Listen
Singapore Sling - Life is killing my Rock 'n' Roll
