Afternoon Naps - Can't Stop The Weather

I generally avoid reviewing releases on Cloudberry Records not because they are not very good but because they release so many singles and reviewing them all would leave time for little else. However I am making an exception for Afternoon Naps because their début album Sunbeamed was one of my favourites of 2007.

Can't Stop The Weather is an indie pop floor filler for all of it's two minutes. It's feel good, summery music complete with organs, girl/boy harmonies, all of which is ideal for such a bleak January! The other two tracks continue in the same vein. Clean Bill Of Health sounds like a cross between Lust For Life and You Can't Hurry Love but the latter wins out as it has a very 1960's Motown/girl group feel to it. The 1960's sound stays with Happy All The Time which sadly isn't a cover of the Flatmates track but has a flowery psychedelic presence about it's person all the same.

A cracking little single and if you haven't investigated Cloudberry Records as yet this is a good place as any to start.

The single is out now and can be purchased via Cloudberry Records.
