Woog Riots are a band from Germany/Italy. The core of the band consists of Silvana Battisti and Marc Herbert. Mixed English male/female vocals, garage guitars and Casio tunes comprise the typical Woog Riots sound. The band line-up varies on different occasions, completed by friends such as Mathias Hill (Rockformation Diskokugel) on bass and Jens Engemann (Cessenaro and the Nobodies) on drums.I have just got hold of their debut LP 'Strangelove TV'. It's a great little LP - charmingly lo-fi and poppy. The band have picked up comparisons to the anti-folk scene - I can't really hear it myself. There is a much poppier core to Woog Riots. They have also released a single called 'King Of Pop'. You can download this below - it's free to download from their last.fm page.
Woog Riots - King of Pop
Woog Riots - Football Around The Clock (Written for The World Cup in Germany in 2006).
I have to confess I am not a huge fan of the 'Football' song. But the LP is a much better proposition. The band also have a My Space page - where you can stream a whole host of songs including the great 'Queen of Pop' and 'Commercial Suicide'.
