The 5-spårs EP is the solo debut release from Johan Hedburg of Suburban Kids with Biblical Names and sees Labrador closing 2007 with their most disappointing release to date.I am not sure if something is lost in translation here (the EP is sung in Hedberg's native Swedish) but all five songs on this EP sound somewhat cold and distant. Whilst the music, which is best described as lo-fi electronica, is pretty much okay Hedburg's deadpan Germanic vocal style spoils the beats somewhat. At it's best it's like a young Laibach making music for the first time whilst at it's worst it sounds like a party political broadcast set to music.
For those who want to broaden their horizons with Swedes singing in their own language try Hedberg's label mates [ingenting] and also Vapnet or Säkert!
