"Candlepower" is the fourth release from Champion Kickboxer on Thee SPC label. It's the first release of theirs that I have got my hands on and this is delightful record. A 10" single no less. A five song feast of beautifully organic pop music. It reminds me a little of the Super Furry Animals. Maybe it's the vocal harmonies. Maybe it's the melancholic air that drifts through all the songs on the EP. Maybe it's the shared 1970s influences. It's more than likely a combination of all three.I really need to hear the other releases by the band now. This is EP has made me sit up and take notice. A great new band to be excited about. Just in time for Christmas as well. Like a great little present. This is EP is not likely to be easy to get hold of - it's limited to just 300 copies and for me it's one of this years most own records. Lovely stuff.
