New York band A Place To Bury Strangers formed out of the ashes of the criminally underrated Skywave . Anyone who loved Skywave's buzzsaw mix of Jesus and Mary Chain meets My Bloody Valentine guitars will not be disappointed by A Place To Bury Strangers. I was a massive fan of Skywave and I have been waiting for a real release from A Place To Bury Strangers for some time now. There is heavy shoegaze/noisepop sound on this LP. The ten songs have been floating around for years on CD-Rs sold at shows and MP3s circling around the Internet (between 2003 and 2006), but are presented here uncompressed in their full glory, professionally mastered for CD. It shows, often touted as the loudest band in New York, the band deliver a rather beautiful LP. Again the noisepop influences are heavy and persistent - although there is a slight electronic influence underlying the noise (think early 80s Cure and Joy Division). I am sucker for bands that dip their tunes in a vat of reverb and feedback. So I am a fan. If only they'd come to the UK so I could feel the full force of one of their legendary live shows. This is a limited release from the good folk at Brainwashed - who have made 3 songs available for download.

this is a pretty good album, but i dont like how some of the songs run dangerously close to Nine inch nails territory. mostly awesome, though!
