At Lostmusic Presents we were delighted to put on Little My back at the end of July - when they opened up proceedings before Pocketbooks, The School and Radio Luxembourg did their respective things at Lostmusic Presents #4.They were just so good live. They battled the poor sound and still managed to win the crowd over with their cutesy indiepop.
On that night I picked up this release but what with Indietracks goodness last weekend and Soup Kitchen preparations this week - it's taken me a little longer than anticipated to get around to listening to their new 3" CD EP. It is simply called 'Little My's Third'. It's a super cute release on WeePop! Records - it contains the following 4 cover versions - 'Monsterpuss' (Vaselines), 'Heavy Heart' (Jeffrey Lewis), 'Strange Shapes' (Hornby Pylons) and 'New Slang' (The Shins). If you like your indiepop lo-fi and just a little on the fey/twee side you will love this release - as it has the obligatory glockenspiels, handclaps and melodica sounds to the fore. It's a gorgeous little CD and the guys over at WeePop! have lovingly hand stamped the CDs (which are limited to 120 per release - so go and snap one up now!).
As has been mentioned elsewhere the band come from Cardiff/Bristol and they have two live dates lined up in August:
15th August - Pontypridd - Clwb Y Bont
30th August - Newport - Mezze Lounge
It nearly makes me wanna move back to Wales!
You can download Strange Shapes from the EP from the WeePop! site:
