The School - Demo CD Review

The School is a band put together by Liz from The Loves.

Since I first mentioned the band they have gone from being her solo project to a full blown line up. They now have a few gigs under their belt with more lined up in the month to come.

If you imagine Camera Obscura being remixed by Phil Spector you may get some idea of what the band sound like. Words like sugar, candy and sweet have been bounded around but if John Waters ever directed a 1960's High School Prom movie then this would be the music he would have chosen to be on the soundtrack. None more so than Valentine or the lovely All I Wanna Do. The School are in the latest in the long line of indie pop acts influenced by sixties girl bands. Make no mistake this lot are top of the class. Stream their songs from My Space now!

The demo is on sale at gigs directly from the band.

Great music! Unfortunately their Myspace-downloads aren't working... :-( Could you reupload those two songs you had in your earlier post? That would be fantastic!

    thanks and bye,
