The Blues Child Experiments is the moniker used by Norwegian Mats Davidsen. If that name rings a bell it is because Davidsen was the singer/songwriter of acclaimed and Orange Juice influenced band, the Wallpaper Silhouettes, who disbanded last year.I have been listening to tracks available on his My Space page. It's interesting stuff. I find it to be very eighties influenced and it has a certain Scottish feel to it. By this I mean bands such as Aztec Camera, The Associates, Lloyd Cole and dare I say it, Deacon Blue. Sticking with the 80's pop feel I even hear hints of ABC on Hand Me Your Heart. Davidsen has a fine voice which, despite being strong, don't actually threaten the songs. It's not exactly indie pop but it does make a strong impression on listening.
The Blues Child Experiments - Better Life
There is another track to download. It's titled Breathing Secondhand Air and is an ambient remix by DJ Luguber. I rather like it and it can be downloaded from the My Space page.
The These Times EP is out now and can be purchased via the website.
