The Lasten Musiikki EP by Mutt Ramon is the follow up to last years excellent self released Utterly Mutterly album.The EP, which translates from Finnish as Childrens Music, features seven songs including two new mixes of tracks from the aforementioned album. Like the album there is so much going on here it may be easier to list some of the bands Mutt Ramon sound like. I hear bits of New Order, Beloved, Aphex Twin, Lemon Jelly, Kraftwerk etc as well as the bands own eccentricities in these tracks. Opening tracks All I Needed and A.N. Other are slow paced but not slow burning whilst Just My Honey is a good example of an alternative pop song as you may wish to hear.
It's just a fresh lick of paint on the new mix of Physically Corrupted but the best track of the EP is the last, in the shape of Vouchsafe which is a pretty catchy effort with some fine lyrical and musical moments.
Lasten Musiikki doesn't spring many surprises but it does demonstrate a band who do what they do best and that bodes well for the new album!
