I know indie pop is a global phenomenon but I don't think I have written about a Polish band as of yet. Despite the name Iowa Super Soccer hail from Myslowice, Poland. They have released two CDR EP's including the impressively named Teenage Dreams So Hard To Beat EP.Whilst the band draw a number of influences from the late 1980's UK jangle pop scene I find that their music sounds very alt.Americana to my ears and this could be down to lead singer/guitarist Michal Skrzydlo vocals which are reminiscent of Red House Painters Mark Kozelek. I also like the almost whispered tones of joint vocalist Natalia Baranowska's voice but sometimes they just get too dominated and their effect is lost.
It's classy stuff but I wonder if it is enough to make anyone stand up and take notice especially as the number of new bands seems to increase every day. Judge for yourself with one track each taken from their two releases so far.

The EP is impressively named? Sorry, but it's a line from The Undertones song, "Teenage Kicks".
Really? Well I never.
Seriously that's why it is impressively named. I will make myself more obvious with my irony in future ;o)
