AVO-8 are a band from the past and I last wrote about them here. George, who used to be in the band, has put together an extensive website about them and there are now new additions to the said site.Firstly he has added four videos from the band. More impressively however he has added two mp3 collections of the bands work covering most, if not all, the bands output.
Well worth investigating.
My life was "touched" by AVO-8 when I lived in Scotland for a year in the 80s. I became friends with the band, followed them around (Mel, in Flight of the Conchords style) and they even played my 21st birthday party!
They had the misfortune to show up on the music industry's radar mere months after a number of other big names of that genre (Primitives, Darling Buds, etc.), but to my mind they were easily the best of the crowd.
The music absolutely holds up after all these years. My kids sing along in the car!
