Magnus' post on Secret Shine reminded me I haven't listened to a "shoegaze" band for a couple of months now.One band I have listened to quite a bit in the past is Airiel since getting hooked on their Wine & Kisses series of EPs on Claire Records a few years back.
The band were formed by Jeremy Wren as a solo project in 1997 and have progressed into a full band since then. In recent years they have played live with outfits such as The Dears and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Their last EP, the self titled Airiel EP, was released in 2005 but 2007 should see the arrival of a debut album on Highwheel Records.
If you like shoegaze you know what to expect. If you don't have a listen:
Airiel - Cinnamon
Airiel - Firefly
More tracks can be downloaded from the bands sound page. I will go and dig out the EP's and give them a listen once more.

They are a nice band, at least for a few songs at the time. For some reason, I kept misspelling their name though. So I'm glad to see it's not just me :)
Damn. I thought I had checked them all! Done now. That will teach them for being smart arses with the spelling.
