Working For The Yankee Dollar

The Yankee Dollar are just the latest in a long line of bands who have taken their inspirations from Phil Spector and 1960's Girl bands, a sound that is becoming increasingly popular (again) these days.

Shana Lehar provides the voice whilst Mike Munywoki provides the sound and the band have just started recording. I suppose living in different cities does have it's drawbacks!

The tracks available on My Space are very much work in progress. Alongside the obvious Spector influences there are also suggestions of Broadcast as well as various strands of indie pop. Lehar's voice is very similar to that of Trish Keenan, Broadcast's vocalist. These tracks have much to recommend them especially as they hint at promise and potential. I wish they will change the colour scheme on their My Space page though!
