I know very little about The Jennifers apart from what I have read online today. Their debut LP - "Nine Days Wonder" was released back in 1994. The band broke up in the middle of recording their 2nd LP - "Book Of Bad Advice" in 1997. The LP eventually surfaced in 2002. Also in 2002 a new version of The Jennifers was born - and they have a 3rd LP due for release on Beef Platter Records on the 16th January. There ends todays brief history lesson.
So what are The Jennifers like? I have been listening to the 2002 release - "Book Of Bad Advice" and the new LP which is titled "Colors From The Future" and I have been most impressed with the guitar pop on show. A little more ballsy than the twee bands and a little more twee than indie rock bands, The Jennifers pull off intelligent guitar pop. But don't take my word for it - download these MP3s.
The Jennifers - Lazy Stalker from the new LP - "Colors From The Future"
The Jennifers - Sleeping Weather (my space link) from the 2002 LP - "Book Of Bad Advice"
The band also have some tracks for streaming on their My Space page.
EDIT - The 'Sleeping Weather' link doesn't seem to be working now. It worked for me earlier - so i'll leave the download link there - just in case it comes back to life. Oh the joys of My Space.

I believe 2/3 of the band Supergrass also played in a band called the Jennifers in the early 90's... I have a copy of a song called "Just Got Back Today" which is a gorgeous shoegazery ballad...
I was going to say something similar to DFO, since I too have that EP (released in 1992) and I believe some members of The Jennifers went on to form Supergrass.
I saw The Jennifers play a couple of times live in Oxford in 1991/92 (once opening for the Cranes in a club on Cowley Rd). I still have a demo tape that they were selling at their shows. They sounded like Ride wannabees then. Not bad but nothing original. They also had a bunch of annoyingly noisy fans following them.
I'm curious to know if this is the same band. They must be old now. As old as me at least ;-)
I am pretty sure it's not the same band. These Jennifers have always been based in the USA I think
Although we are all big Supergrass fans, we are not Supergrass, though we did send them a letter ca 1995 asking them if it would be OK to continue being the Jennifers since they no longer were.
Thanks for the post.
