Sweden's Afraid Of Stars have their sights fixed firmly on the shoegazing scene of England circa 1991. You can hear elements of My Bloody Valentine, Chapterhouse but most prominently Ride amongst the four tracks on their self titled EP on the new Lavender Recordings label. Close your eyes and you will believe that you have gone back in time to shoegazing's golden age with shimmering, swirling guitars and vocals that drift in and out the length of the songs. Whilst not the most original EP of all time it certainly has it's moments especially on the stand out track They Aimed Bad. Once the band have consolidated their position I am sure that they will go on to bring something new to the shoegazing (nu-gaze?) genre in the future.
