The Steadies are a London based band who play a brand of dreamy, wispy indie pop which will no doubt draw comparisons to Belle & Sebastian. The band have posted their demo onto My Space and I can say that there is not a weak track amongst them. I was getting a bit tired of the indie folk sound that seems to be two a penny these days. Whilst the music is hardly original, and what is these days?, it has that special something that makes The Steadies stand out from the run of the mill.
The earlier mention of Belle & Sebastian gives some clues to the bands sound but this is no straight mimicking act. Through the course of the demos the band demonstrates their own originality and this shines through on tracks like Two Times Champion and Happier For Knowing. Trust me, these are tracks that should be permantly cemented into your play-list. Lovely!

The arts editor at the uni's paper (role under me, of course) either kissed the guy, or the guys mate from the steadies at the uni's indie night on thursday. GOSS!
"A Dying Breed" so so reminds me of The Sodastream. Which is good. Isn't it? Because they're both lovely and being a Belle and Sebastian fan any twee goes i suppose. Now, if you'll excuse me i'll go and sob into my stripy scarf...
