Washington D.C's The Positions have produced an album of such good feeling that I have had a smile on my face since I first hearing it. Titled Bliss it's getting a UK release almost 12 months after it's stateside one. The band were formed by Ivan Ramiscal formerly of Barcelona who got some friends together before they were joined by Nicole Stoops (from Charming) on vocals. The band's music is driven by it's horn section which unsurprisingly evokes memories of Dexy's Midnight Runners or fellow 1980's act The Style Council. There is also a hybrid fusion of jangle-pop, Phil Spector and girl fronted bands but they manage to carve out their own defining identity with Stoops' excellent vocals being one of the main causes of this. Highlights are the brilliant Back To Me, Think I Can Tell and Things You Never Said which features some excellent boy/girl singing with Ramiscal taking the lead on vocals.
A superb take on indie-pop. Bliss indeed.... (7/10)

I woudl definitely say they remind me of DMR, however with me it's more along the lines of the piano. Then again the only song I ever seem to here is "come On eileen"
