To me, Polar Bear Parade are one of the more enjoyable bands I've covered in this mini-series about the New England Popfest. Based in Brooklyn, they sound like a poppier version of early Sonic Youth, with heavy emphasis on many layered guitar soundscapes. They are currently looking for more musicians to work with, and are particularily interested in collaborating with people who are into experimentation and improvisation. The band currently consists of James Skinner, Gus Stadler and Marisha Chinsky, who used to be in a band called The Consultants who were "so indie that they made Belle and Sebastian sound like Cannibal Corpse", according to NME.
