It's a bit of a predictable line-up with this sequel to C86. Many of these tracks have been re-issued on CD over the past couple of years although it's good to see The Fizzbombs on CD at long last. Personally I would have re-issued c86 on CD and on the second disc compile those artists who failed to make the cut for the original release or even use Peel session tracks to show what else was happening in 1985 and 1986 with a bit of diversity thrown in. What do people think? Is it a missed opportunity?
(I think someone from castle has been reading this blog!)

Maybe a slightly missed opportunity. I am still kinda glad it's coming out. Especially if 'If I Said' by the Darling Buds is the raw original version. Hopefully this compilation might be gateway for some people to discover this great music. And if does 'ok' maybe Castle or CherryRed will do an even better follow.
i kind of agree with your personal opinion. there would be nothing wrong with a re-release. at the same time i think that there are a lot of artists on this release that deserve some more attention, so why can´t there be room for both? anyone up for a re-release of the c86 tape?
It is a pity that the original isn't being issued - I can't believe that frankly seminal (and I mean that) compilations like c81 and c86 are not available commercially, though I appreciate that licensing can make things harder. Certainly the Rough Trade indie pop 1 cd might have been very different if licensing were easier. But if it opens people up to this music great. BUT PLEASE, SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, RE-ISSUE C81 AND C86 ON CD (and vinyl would be even better). There is a market for it!
Where's 1000 Violins?
I am interested in this record. I used to listen to these groups and now this is my oportunity of recovering some of those songs. Could it be possible?. Please, let me know
this must be the best line-up for a compilation ever!!!
