One of the best songs I've heard in the past weeks is undoubtedly "A l´été de la Saint-Martin ´68" by the czech band Miou Miou. Though from the Czech Repbublic they apparently prefer to sing in the language of love; french. And they also make music for cartoons!I quote their page:
Miou Miou came into existence during the spring in 2003 and the debut EP "6 chants pour les chats" is studio documentation of their early coaction. The Miou Miou sound is shaped by two dissolving guitars, legendary East Germany organ Vermona and girlish voice with French lyrics. Music recording is also supplemented by stringed instruments, metalophone, electronic fxs and sampling.
There are samples of their songs from their album "La Grande Finale" available on their website here, they can also be streamed from their Myspace page or you can start by downloading these two full songs which I found at another blog and expertly copied over to my server. Get them while they're hot!
