NE Popfest 2006 #6 - The Icicles

The Icicles have been one of my favorite bands since I first hit upon them over a year ago. They still manage to fascinate me with their lively and simple songs, and my band covered their Snowman Song and played it at quite a few concerts, spreading the word here in Reykjavik also. God, I love this band, and you will too!

Released on Microindie Records they've put out two albums so far, the EP Pure Sugar, and the LP A Hundred Patterns. Both are overflowing with delightfully catchy and boppy popsongs, laden with heartwarming backing vocals, toe-tapping drum beats and a squirt of 60's influence. If there's one thing I'm looking forward to seeing at the Popfest, it's this band. And they will also be boppin' and a hoppin' along with Dýrðin in Cake Shop in NYC on october 9th.
