Love Is All - Is That Enough?

I have been very busy this past week and I am grateful to Magnus for his excellent posts. I did however manage to catch Love Is All at the Cargo on Wednesday night.

I have never been to sure how the band, who hail from Gothenburg, actually fit with me. The music is superb but Josephine's vocals are very off putting due to her tendency to screech, quite loudly at times. Unlike say Abby Conor from The Close Up's who uses her unique vocal style to good effect I can only say that I just switch off when Josephine starts to sing on a number of their tracks and that we (soundsXP writers) were split down the middle on this one.

This was the second of two London gigs the band were playing to promote their new single Busy Doing Nothing (out now) and the new album Nine Time That Same Song which is out next week in the UK.

I caught one of the support bands who were Brighton based band Shrag. It must have been an evening of unique vocal styles as I can only describe them as Joy Division/Gang Of Four or any other post punk band of that ilk being fronted by Claire Grogan! I was intrigued enough to pick up the bands single which I have yet to play. However it's not even listed on the label's website so I am unsure where to point you in the direction to purchase it.

I'm off back to the Cargo and Stylish Riots today. Hopefully it will take people's mind off yet another penalty shoot out defeat in the world cup.
