The Trudy - Oh!

This is the first single from The Trudy, one time exiled aliens from the planet Miron, in over a decade and sees them retaining a distinctive power pop style with the Oh! EP which was co-produced by Tim Smith of The Cardiacs.

The lead track is a bouncey little number with both the song and Melissa Jo Heathcotes voice, especially on the chorus, sounding remarkably like early Echobelly and Sonya Aurora Madan. Still that's not a bad thing in my book. From Venus With Love returns to the space fixations the band have used previously and is a vessel for Heathcote's excellent vocals - it would be ideal for use on a soundtrack methinks. Sadly final track What She Wants is a messy affair, devoid of any positives and it's best to skip past that one.

It's good to see the band back but, apart from die hard fans whose response lead to the release, I am hard pressed to see who else will pick it up.

The Oh! EP is only available as a digital single release (mp3 320 k/bits) from Tuntribe - you can buy the tracks as one EP or individually. You can listen to all the tracks on My Space.
