Beauty Sleep are a band from Brooklyn NY. Their singer, Annabel Kaplan, has a background in pop that spans continents; originally from Florida, she later moved to Japan and there she formed a band called Nico Desu which released a four-song EP comprised of songs in both English and Japanese. So they, or she at least, happens to have a lot in common with Asobi Seksu which I mentioned some days ago, and indeed they are playing the same evening at the New England Popfest in Northampton this year.Much unlike Asobi Seksu though, Beauty Sleep don't make as much of a noise. They've released a 5 song EP which i'd gladly get my hands on, and hopefully more of the same is coming soon. Here are a couple of their songs, and might I add that "Dream" sounds very Irish to me, I'm reminded of The Cranberries and Language of Flowers.
