I just got word from Microindie Records about their upcoming releases. You'd be well advised to check out their site and listen to some tunes on their fabulous Microindie Music Machine which showcases songs from their previous releases. Upcoming releases are limited edition 7" vinyl singles by The Flower Machine, Baby Grand, The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir and The Steinbecks. There's also a new Kiddo album out on Itunes and the CD version will be out later this summer. The Steinbecks are also working on a full length album to be released hopefully by the end of the year.
You can't readily download mp3's from the Microindie site, without some acrobatics including subscribing to a yahoo mailing list, but here are links to some of the band MySpace pages. Be sure to check out The Icicles, they're fabulous!
The Icicles
Kiddo
Bearsuit
Sodastream
The Flower Machine
The Universe
The Primay 5
And one direct mp3:
The Icicles - Snowman Song
In other news I'd like to promote the noisedfisk.com blog where I have recently started contributing some thoughts of mine on Icelandic music. This website focuses on nordic culture of all sorts, not least the indiependent music scene.
I'd also like to point out an interesting indie-pop blog I came across the other day; A Musical Kiss.
