Staying on the subject of record labels, one I find myself drawn to again and again is Elefant Records. Founded by one Luis Calvo in 1989, the label has grown to include on it's roster such bands as Trembling Blue Stars, the somewhat depressed but lovely Camera Obscura, the gangling toothpaste-smilie youths of La Caza Azul, and the powerful but sadly departed Juniper Moon. The Elefant Website is an elegant one, beutifully designed and with lots of info, including detailed and useful bios of each band, lyrics and high-resolution pictures. The problem is that all the sound samples seem to have magically dissapeared, if they were there in the first place, I can't open a single file.
However, if you can manage safely to install Real Player without subscribing to a bunch of newsletters and "messages" and having it take over all your media files, you'll be rewarded with some amazing good-quality videos by the aforementioned bands and more.
I managed to get Real Player working with a download from here. If it doesn't stream the videos you could download the .rmvb files and open them manually from your hard drive, or right click the link, select copy shortcut, and use File > Open in the Real Player.
Another problem is that many of the links just don't work. Make sure you click (or copy) the "Download" link on this page.
Sounds like too much trouble? Alternatively you can just head to their MySpace page and watch some of them embedded in the page with no additional fuss. It's lower quality and no video by Juniper Moon though.
I particularily recommend the following:
Camera Obscura - Lloyd, I'm ready to be heartbroken
Juniper Moon - Sólo un sonrisa
La Casa Azul - Como un fan
La Casa Azul - Superguay
