Pocketbooks have their latest album Proofreading available as a free download. It features 10 excellent tracks and is well worth a listen - you will need to sign up to Sound Click to download the tracks.Pocketbooks come from London and at the moment consist of just one chap called Andy who hopes to put together a band together some day. He has also contributed to the Let's Be Honeys last record which I wrote about here.
There are similarities in the music with the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Ant and Aberfeldy but an old man like me can also hear plenty of Harvey Williams/Another Sunny day or even Rodney Allen in there too. This is a great little album and if you like your indie pop as a lo-fi variety then you are not going to be disappointed by this. Certainly one of the brightest things shining through in the musically dull phoney war that is 2006 so far.
