Stephen

A lesser know gem from the quite considerable cannon of David Kilgour, Stephen was formed into between one of the many break-ups (or hiatus of, I’m not quite sure) of The Clean, the second if I’m correct. Stephen have a more west-coast psychedelia-influenced edge to their pop.

Stephen only put out one EP during their existence. This was compiled with other recording in 1993 on the wonderful titled Long player. “A Radar of small dogs”

David Kilgour now has a prolific solo career, and ultimately enlisted his old Stephen buddies (other flying nun long-termers stephen kilroy and alf donaldson, along with geoff hoani), for backing on the releases - eventually naming them the heavy eights.

I’ve selected “Windy Day” for the track of the week, which is quite typical.
