The Left Outsides are a South London band and are Mark Nicholas and Alison Cotton. If Alison's name rings a bell it is because she was in Saloon, a band who released two great albums and who topped John Peel's Festive 50 in 2002.
The Left Outsides have three songs available on their website. Leaving The Frozen Butterflies Behind behind is an absolutely gorgeous lo-fi song that is drenched in psychedelic influenced folk music. The folk influences continue with the viola driven Ballad Of Jim Jones. Sadly Take Me To the Other Side is not a cover of the Spacemen 3 song but to my ears owes more to Sonic Boom's music than say Nick Drakes. I will certainly be keeping an eye (ear?) open for this lot in 2006 as they are worthy of more investigation as this sonic bliss based evidence suggests.

You can download Take Me To The Other Side from their music page or stream tracks via you've guessed it, My Space.
They have some gigs lined up in January this month including a free show in London. See their news page for more.

That's a top find. I love them already!
