Getting back from the Christmas break that I enjoyed back in Wales with family and old friends. I arrived to a mountain of post. The nicest surprise seemed to come from Hello! Surprise! it was a a CDr release by The Bent Pen Project. I had to dig a little on the internet to find out the tracklist and a little more about The Bent Pen Project. This I did find:
"BPP is primarily Jonas Stahl fooling around with two guitars, a synthesiser, and a recording machine. It's all been recorded in a student's flat in Vaxjo, Sweden. The music is what you might expect from the above description only better, much better. Early Cure and Joy Division are clear influences but done on a low budget makes this even more appealing not less." - Craig Bonnell, swedesplease
I can certainly endorse BPP - the CD has that quirky and lovable lo-fi indie pop quality that pushes all the buttons for me - in it's more electronic places it reminds me of White Town - who scored a real hit in the UK a few years ago with 'Your Woman'. You can buy the CDr EP from Melodrama for a very reasonable US$3.50.
