Jana, the lead singer of The Arrogants dropped indie-mp3 a line to mention the release of the band's new album "You've Always Known When Best To Say Goodbye".
The album contains 23 tracks with a DVD with extras. It's being sold online by Twee Kitten and can be yours for $7.50 (£4.30!)+ p & p and will be released next Monday 24th October.
I must put my hands up and say that I have not heard to much from the band. I remember downloading some of their tracks from mp3.com in days gone by, which included a cover of New Order's "Shellshock" if I recall, but after listening to some of the tracks from this album I have to say that's my loss.
In their slower moments, as demonstrated on "Antony & Cleopatra" The Arrogants reminds me very much of Melys, especially the vocals. You can hear the influences of say The Darling Buds or The Primitives when they step on the gas on songs such as "Cool Shoes" or the brilliant "Lovesick" which is an example of the perfect pop song running in at 1:37.
The band have made available three tracks from the album to download. "I Want You" and "Don't Be Cynical" head for the fey, twee folky inspired sound whilst "Wishing Well" heads for poppier territory dominated by the excellent perscussion this track features.
