I have refrained from posting all week to give the Punk of Country Post greater exposure. If you have not downloaded the track below (or the one at It's A trap) then do so as you are missing out - these tracks are by far and away the best things they have done in my humble opinion.
Despite a viral infection I made it to The Barfly on Tuesday night to see The National. They are getting exposure over here based on their new album "Alligator". Whilst I found them to be fantastic in parts they also became very U2 like with their slower songs. Like Interpol they also use the UK 1980's music scene (Ok just Joy Division then) as a source of inspiration.
I see the album has just turned up on e-music. You can get it free if you are a new subscriber. You can stream the album here. Find out what one of my SoundsXP colleagues thought of the gig.
The lack of posts have seen me searching out new blogs. These are my favourites:
The Perfumed Garden. Named after an old John Peel show this site is posting sessions from mainly indie bands so far. I missed last weeks Field Mice posting but there is camera Obscura up there at the moment. It's a sahme that the mp3's are in 128 k/bits. I would have liked a little higher. I must dig out some Shop Assistant Peel sessions and send to the blog owner.
Burning World. Blog concentrating on various bands, old and new. Some good tracks posted including the excellent Bridge Gang! I liked the raw punk of The Spits!
Teenage Kicks 3000 - Another site dedicated to the late John Peel. Features whole shows as well as Peel sessions. Head over there now to download a truly superb Undertones Session from 2003.
Regnyouth Archives - Not sure I should be posting this link! A round up of albums posted on the net by file sharers.
