I have been off work for the past week using up my ample supply of leave! Thought I would be constructive and go out and buy some CD's, instead of ordering over the net, to dig into that list of wants I have.
I purchased all three Field Mice re-issues on LTM. These are re-releases of their albums coupled with singles as extra tracks and are well worth picking up. They are Skywriting, Snowball and For Keeps. If you have not got any music by this fine band I suggest that you should.
You may be aware that some of the Field Mice later became The Trembling Blue Stars whose last album, The Seven Autumn Flowers was released late last year. Some fine tracks on this album including the single "Helen Reddy" which appeared on the Southern Skies Appear Brighter EP.
Despite being an indie kid I also like the odd bit of "electronica" now and again. I picked up '64 - '95 by Lemon Jelly, Destroy Rock & Roll by Mylo and LCD Soundsystem by erm, LCD Sound System! The latter two choices would not have been brought by and would have been lost to me if I had not had heard the albums via other mp3 blogs. I won't repeat what I have said on this blog before suffice to say I cannot believe that people would rather have mp3 copies of albums than the real thing!
What have you been buying lately - anything interesting and worth a mention?

I have been loving these records lately:
1. Owen - i do perceive
---- A very poppy and light album full of lush guitar lines and heartaching lyrics. Absolutely recommended.
2. Language of Flowers - Songs about you.
----- Great dublin indiepop. For a debut its amazing. I can't wait to hear the next one.
3. The Pipettes - 4 song demo. Tangents raved about this band and they are *the best thing ever*. The same way belle and sebastian were the best thing ever in 1997. They are going to be huge.
death from above 1979 - youre a woman i'm a machine
like a more brutal cross between lcd soundsystem and queens of the stone. it's absolutely amazing and crucial
optimo - how to kill the dj [part two]
best mix cd i've heard in agess with two discs one being a compilation of the bestest songs youve heard ever
new wedding present album too. that's fab.
Thanks Tom! You rock, and quite often roll...
Bobby and I have been loving the Bloc Party CD "Silent Alarm".
Amazing production, fab songs... Also, the new Josh Rouse is completely lovely, as usual.
Hugs,
Beth (Trembling Blue Stars)
