Indiepop Revival

Following on from the Rough Trade indiepop release one of the UK national broadsheets, The Guardian, has written a piece about the indiepop revival. The aricle writer has also listed his top ten indiepop records as well. Anyone want to list their top ten? Do so under the comments to this post. I will post mine later!

Nice to see the excellent How Does It Feel To Be Loved getting a mention. If you are in London and the night is on then go. Highly recommended.

Great article, thanks for the hat tip.

My record collection still has many holes in this area (and I assume we're talking C-86-era indiepop rather than pop-inflected indie rock in general), but here are a few I found missing from the Guardian list:

Primal Scream, Crystal Crescent, for the B side.
    the Field Mice, Emma's House.
    the Flatmates, Shimmer.
    Felt, Rain of Crystal Spires

Other than that I'd probably make a couple of different choices than the Guardian list. For House of Love I still find the original "Shine On" unbeatable, particularly given the fantastic B-sides. For the Wedding Present, I'd probably choose "Why are You Being So Unreasonable?" For Talulah Gosh, "I Can't Get No Satisfaction (Thank God)" (another B side).

Hmmn...It's been years of drought & haziness...here's mine:

The Jesus & Mary Chain - "Upside Down"
    Primal Scream - "Velocity Girl"
Shop Assistants - "I Don't Wanna Be Friends With You"
    The Pastels - "Crawl Babies"
The Wedddding Present - "Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now?"
    Talulah Gosh - "Steaming Train"
    Close Lobsters - "A Prophecy"
The Stone Roses - "Sally Cinnamon"
The Field Mice - Emma's House"
My Bloody Valentine - "You Made Me Realise"

    cheers!
